Cambridge House

My role on this project was to assemble and direct the team and to conceive the best development outcome. The architecturally unique, Grade I listed, Cambridge House and adjacent buildings are being transformed into a new luxury hotel with residences and spa. Two other historic buildings on the site are being restored as well: Grade II listed 90-93 and 95 Piccadilly. Adjacent sites on Half Moon Street, White Horse Street and Shepherd Market are also part of the development which has a considerable amount of new build construction and 4 levels of new basement.Centred around the historic, Palladian mansion with its portico and ballroom, the complex scheme combines restoration, retention and new build. The principal suite of hotel rooms have magnificent high ceilings and retain the original ‘enfilade’ arrangement around the central stair. On the eastern side are lateral apartments with retail and restaurant areas below. Opposite are bars and restaurants with further hotel accommodation above. The basement levels accommodate wellness and leisure facilities and the back of house and servicing. Centred around the historic, Palladian mansion with its portico and ballroom, the scheme combines restoration, retention and complementary new build. As one of the few great London town houses still surviving and used for more than a century as a private home, the central building was later used for more than a century as the headquarters of the Naval and Military Club. Its next chapter is now set as a luxury hotel with adjoining residences and extensive amenities. Accentuating the unique heritage of the site, the design weaves old and new with a sympathetic touch, adapting it to modern standards and user expectations. To provide excellent guest experience and to support efficient and effective operations behind the scenes, the project required a careful design and layout arrangement. After many years of gestation the building will finally open under the management of Auberge Resorts in 2026:
