Halkins Estate
Planning consent was obtained for the recladding and extending of two rather forlorn apartment blocks in the heart of Belgravia. Obtaining consent for additional stories when the buildings were already considered unusually tall in the neighbourhood was achieved by improving their appearance, adding balconies and penthouses, extensive landscaping etc.
Although the project was consented, it remains unbuilt. As a frontispiece to the development three townhouses were demolished and rebuilt achieving an additional storey. This was challenging given the location above an existing car park and we used timberframe construction to reduce the structural load and achieve a relatively slim wall buildup. There were three separate clients so the three houses were each very different in terms of their layouts and interior design.
