Project Description

Seafield House is a magnificent family home set in 1.5 acres in Mill Hill, North West London — and one of CoyEagle's most celebrated projects. The original structure, built in the 1950s as a reinforced-concrete nuclear bunker, had fallen into disrepair. With walls and roof 1.5 metres thick, the building presented extraordinary structural and design challenges.

The design approach sets up a powerful contrast: the immovable solidity of the ground floor — retained as a deliberate expression of its history, complete with massive doors, heavy steel plate ironmongery and a vast original generator — against the crystalline lightness of the first floor, where floor-to-ceiling perimeter glazing offers panoramic views across the surrounding countryside.

The piano nobile contains a series of luxurious living spaces, a master suite with two separate dressing rooms, and en-suite bathrooms to every bedroom. The lower ground floor houses a cinema room, second kitchen, family room, study, wine store and sauna. A tunnel connection links the original structure to a new basement extension containing an indoor swimming pool complex, with a sunken patio providing garden access and natural light.

Recognised as one of the great houses of the world by The New York Times. The house is Grade II listed as a result of our careful mastery of Green Belt policy and Cold War architecture.
